As of January 02, 2001 we have updated all of the CATCH (still working on average weight and price graphs) and EXPORT graphs in the database with the most recent currently available data. Due to the low salmon catches in 2000 the catch data, especially the values, are deemed exceptionally preliminary for this time of year. A lower catch means a greater number of smaller harder to trace sales, and while DFO has kindly provided us with the catch data to make this update possible they would like to stress the preliminary nature of the data. Canned statistics (compiled by the Province of British Columbia) are also not final for 2000 but any percentage increase from the date provided is generally very small. The PROCESSING section will be fully updated in the next few weeks.
Please note that SMD graphs in the past years showed troll and freezer troll weights as dressed weights. Since this was the actual delivered poundage it was deemed a more accurate presentation. When added to the round weight of net caught deliveries however it creates some confusion. Therefore all SMD catch data has been changed to round pounds for all gear types in all of the years.
